01 Nov Brad Carr strikes back for CMA Car Mods Australia in Winton Wrap Race 2
The CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang GT of Brad Carr has struck back at the Winton Wrap after a key rival spun during the second 30-minute sprint race.
It appeared the Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang Mach I was set to repeat its opening race victory – this time with Hadrian Morrall at the wheel – but a spin at Turn 6 with just 10-minutes remaining led to fourth place at the flag.
Carr was able to take the lead after pressuring the leader for much of the race and took a 3.972s victory ahead of Michael Kavich in the Thryv Race For A Cure BMW M2 Competition.
Trent Whyte for the Ultimate Diesel Tuning team was third in the Ford Mustang Mach 1 from Morrall and a solid comeback drive delivered fifth for Karlie Buccini in the Team Buccini Racing BMW 340i after electrical problems curtailed father Paul’s opening race.
Defying a 5s penalty, Mitch Randle was sixth and won Class A1 in the FG Motorsport Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, while Luke Van Haerwaarde was seventh in the Elk Motorsport Class I Toyota 86.
The Axis Surveys BMW E92 M3 of Andrew Milford was eighth ahead of Graeme Wakefield’s GRW Retail Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
Rounding out the top 10 was Hugh Zochling in the Hadley Green Investment Group Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII.
After a strong run early, David Ling was 11th in his FPV GT-F finishing clear of Troy Derwent steering the Class C PB Motorsport Services HSV VXR.
Class D contender Aston Davis was the sole retirement of the race in the ADR All Access Hire Subaru BRZ.
