10 Nov FINAL DANCE FOR 2024 LOOMS FOR MEGUIAR’S APC
Just one final 30-minute race battle remains for the Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars with race three of the Bathurst International now complete.
The Cameron Crick/Dean Campbell #118 DA Campbell Transport BMW M2 continued its dominance in race three with another outright and X class win with Crick at the wheel, once again leading the #27 Sherrin Rentals BMW M4 and the #21 Secure Wealth Advisors BMW M4 across the line outright and in class X. This result for the #118 marks its seventh straight race win.
Taking out the other class victories in race two were Chris Lillis in the #64 Cachet Homes Chevrolet Camaro (outright 4th – A2 1st, driving with Nathan Callaghan), Chris Sutton in the #321 321 Motorsport Mitsubishi Evo X (outright 6th – A1 1st), Ashley Hooper in the #15 BTuned BMW M3 (outright 8th – B2 1st, driving with Chris Begg), Karlie Buccini in the #999 Buccini Transport BMW 135i (outright 10th, B1 1st, driving with Courtney Prince), Justin Lewis in the #50 Yellow Express Mazda RX8 (outright 14th – D 1st) and Allan Jarvis in the #70 TOA57D Motorsport VW Polo GTI (outright 17th – C 1st, driving with Rob Jarvis).
Matthew Holt (#65 Cavanagh Electrics HSV Clubsport – 5th outright – A2 2nd), Brian Callaghan in the #37 Callaghan Concrete Pumps HSV VY GTS (outright 7th – A2 3rd) and Jimmy Manteufel in the #41 Holden R8 Clubsport (outright 9th – A2 2nd, driving with Garry Beggs) completed the top ten outright.
Next across the line outright were Harry Inwood (#143 A1 Towing Bathurst Subaru STI with Darcy Inwood, 11th outright, B1 – 2nd), Whyte (12th outright – A1 2nd), Brent Peters (#32 Luxe Performance Holden Commodore SSV sharing with Damien Croxon, 13th outright – B2 2nd), Justin Lewis (14th outright – D 1st) and Brock Paine (#33 TFH Hire Mazda RX8, 15th outright – D 2nd) to round out the top 15 outright. For Inwood in particular it was a great result, considering he started ROG following the race two DNF.
It was another ‘all green’ race, but still a number of racers found issues during the race leading to Mick Rowell (A2 #3 Rowell Logistics Ford Mustang), Jamie Canellis (D #88 Australian Hotel Young Mazda RX8 – overheated/limp mode issues), Brett Thompson (D #79 Aussie Outdoor Sheds and Patios Mazda RX8) and Jason Galer (D #51 Mazda RX8 – fuel pick up issues) all retiring in the pit lane before the race’s end.
Peter O’Donnell in the B1 #28 Spinifex Recruiting BMW 335i meanwhile did not start the race and will not take part in race four, after encountering an engine issue at the end of race two.
Paul Buccini (#71 Buccini Transport BMW 140i) meanwhile had a heart in mouth moment in the esses after blowing a tyre while enjoying an inter-class battle with Brian Callaghan, forced to the pits for a replacement – thankfully he was able to resume to keep his A1 championship hopes alive into the final race of the weekend.
After the race, Shane Fowler and Gavan Reynolds were awarded the Shannons Speed Series’ Meguiar’s Best Presented Award for their immaculately turned out #131 Clancy Ford-backed Ford Fiesta ST.
Stacy Vickers in the #35 Autolink Australia Mazda RX8 drew the attention of the officials for a five second penalty, reported by commentary during the race as for a startline infringement.
