30 May Hadrian Morrell sets the pace in opening session in Sydney
The Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang Mach 1 of Hadrian Morrall has set a scorching pace to open the first round of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park.
It set to be a close weekend of racing between the leaders in Class A1 and A2 as highlighted in the short sharp opening practice session of the weekend.
Morrall set a 1m 41.665s lap to top the 15-minute session held in brisk conditions in addition to Class A2, with the A1 Towing Bathurst BMW 1M E82 of Grant Inwood achieving the next best time to lead A1 Class.
Chris Gunther in the FG Motorsport Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG made it three different marques in the top positions despite a spin late in the session at the final corner.
Fourth was the second A2 Class entry of Trent Whyte, who will team with Supercars driver Bryce Fullwood in the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang Mach 1.
An impressive performance from Oskar Butt ensured the Class C PB Motorsport Services Holden Astra HSV VXR was within close proximity to its higher horsepower rivals and will be one to watch during the two hour event on Saturday.
Rounding out the field was David Ling’s FPV GT and the TOA57D Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTi of Allan Jarvis.
Competitors will return to the track for Qualifying scheduled at 11:25am.
