31 Oct Mustangs lead the way following Friday practice sessions
It was two out of three for current Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championship leader Lindsay Kearns in the CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang GT co-driven by Brad Carr to start the final round at the Winton Wrap.
The CMA Car Mods Australia Mustang was on top in the opening session of the day on a 1m 32.348s to be 1.107s ahead of Ben and Michael Kavich driving Thryv Race For A Cure BMW M2 Competition.
Rounding out the top three was the Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang Mach I shared by Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem ahead of the similar entry of Trent Whyte sponsored by Ultimate Diesel Tuning.
Buccini father-daughter combo Paul and Karlie completed the top five in the Class B1 BMW 340i.
Morrall and Mecklem set the pace in the second session by achieving a 1m 32.442s to lead a Mustang lockout of the leading positions.
Whyte led Kearns and Carr, while the Buccinis were living up to being an outright contender by being not far off the Mustangs pace.
David Ling and Darren Jenkins put the FPV GT-F inside the top five.
A spin for the Thryv Race For A Cure BMW M2 Competition ensured it failed to set a representative lap time.
In the final practice session, the CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang GT achieved the fastest lap of the day on a 1m 33.595s as just 0.423s separated it from the Thryv Race For A Cure BMW.
Whyte was just 0.462s off the pace as the Graeme Wakefield/Martin White Class A1 GRW Retail Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X was fourth from the Buccini BMW.
An impressive lap from Aston Davis placed him sixth outright in the Class D ADR All Access Subaru BRZ.
Richard Shinkfield was eighth in the Class B2 leading Axis Surveys BMW M3 E92 to be co-driven by Andrew Milford.
Oscar Butt and Troy Derwent led the way in Class C driving the PB Motorsport Services HSV VXR.
The Parramatta Vehicle Services Mustang suffered a wheel bearing problem, but will make it for qualifying.
Qualifying begins at 4:20pm AEDT.
