01 Nov Tyler Mecklem dominates opening Winton Wrap encounter
The Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang Mach I of Tyler Mecklem has dominated the opening race of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championships at the Winton Wrap.
Although a tall task is required to enter title contention after missing the 2 Days of Thunder round and reliability troubles at the Sydney Sundown season opener, Mecklem was unchallenged in the opening encounter at Winton Wrap to enhance those chances.
Mecklem led a Class A2 Ford Mustang 1-2 as the GT-specification CMA Car Mods Australia entry of Lindsay Kearns finished second from Ben Kavich driving the Class X Thryv Race For A Cure BMW M2 Competition.
Title contender Trent Whyte driving the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang Mach I was fourth ahead of Class A1 winner Martin White steering the GRW Retail Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
Richard Shinkfield secured Class B2 in the Axis Surveys BMW E92 M3 finishing seventh outright ahead of Darren Jenkins steering the David Ling Insurance Services FPV GT-F and the FG Motorsport Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG of Chris Gunther.
Emily Caccaviello was ninth in Class I driving the Scholarship Series-specification Toyota 86 finished just ahead of the sole Class D runner in Aston Davis’s ADR All Access Hire Subaru BRZ.
Rounding out the finishers were the Hadley Green Investment Group Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII of Hugh Zochling and Oskar Butt driving the PB Motorsport Services HSV VXR.
An electrical problem for Paul Buccini forced the BMW 340i to stop on-track, while disappointment for Allan Jarvis as a hub drama has forced the TOA57D Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTi out for the weekend ending the team’s title chances.
The next Hi-Tec APC Endurance Championship race from the Winton Wrap is due to begin at 2:20pm AEDT for the final 30-minute sprint of the season.
