NEW RACER, CAR TO MAKE MEGUIAR’S APC DEBUT AT PVS SYDNEY STOUSH THIS WEEKEND

The Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars will welcome a new driver and a new car to its ranks this weekend, with Trent Whyte to field the #18 Ultimate Diesel Tuning Toyota GR Yaris in the A1 class at the PVS Sydney Stoush.

The October 18-20 event at Sydney Motorsport Park marks the penultimate round of the 2024 Meguiar’s APC season, with Whyte to join his fellow APC competitors for four races this weekend – three 30-minute outings, and one 60-minute battle.

This is the first time a Yaris GR will compete in the Meguiar’s APC.

“I purchased the Yarris from Perth in March this year, and since then we have performed a number of extensive improvements to it including installing a full Motec set-up, a larger fuel tank from Europe, as well as an AP Racing brake package and MCA Gold Suspension plus more,” Whyte explains.

“When it comes to why I chose this car, I just love the performance you get from such a small engine – it is a three-cylinder, 1600cc package – combined with the modern tech of the AWD system.”

It is also the first time for Whyte in the category, who has previously competed in sprints and time attack events, drifting, ANDRA drag racing, Queensland Production Cars, and go karts and alongside preparing for the APC, is also getting ready for a Bathurst 6 Hour debut next year.

“I have contested a few local production car events and am looking forward to making my national level debut,” said the Gold Coast-based 46-year-old Founder/Partner of Ultimate Diesel Tuning.

“After starting out with sprints at QR in 2000 in my Nissan 200SX S15 I fell in love with all kinds of motorsport, and I can’t wait to make this next step in my racing and be a part of the national Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars.”

“This weekend my goal is to drive clean and gain as much experience as I can at the track and in the car.”

“I first drove at Sydney Motorsport Park in September with the NSW Production Cars and found the track awesome to drive, so I am really looking forward to heading back out there again – turn one especially was a highlight for me, and the Yaris flows really well around the circuit.”

While preparing for his APC debut, Whyte is also already looking ahead to his future in the category.

“I am also entered for the season finale at the Bathurst International which should be a fantastic event,” he said.

“In the meantime, I want to thank my sponsor, Ultimate Diesel Tuning, my wife Tessa and my mechanic Michael Vout for their support as we get ready to take this next step in my racing journey, I couldn’t do this without them.”

The PVS Sydney Stoush, round five of the 2024 Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars, will hit Sydney Motorsport Park across October 18-20.
