Game Over Camaro scores second Queensland Raceway pole

Matt McCutcheon has delivered a perfect start to the Sherrin Rentals Fight in the Night event for the Game Over Chevrolet Camaro team by scoring pole for Round 3 of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships at Queensland Raceway.

For McCutcheon, it was a repeat performance after scoring pole at the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days, however the event ended in a spectacular engine failure just seven laps into the main race.

A new engine was sourced prior to this round and McCutcheon put it to good use by setting a 1m 17.379s to edge the Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang of reigning Fight in the Night winners Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem by just 0.099s.

Both Class A2 entries led the way from the Class X Speedcafe.com BMW M4 F82 of Maika Ter Horst and Robert Gooley, while Trent Whyte was fourth in the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang to be co-driven by Glen Walker, which won last time out at the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days.

Lindsay Kearns was fastest following practice, but dropped to fifth during the qualifying session in the CMA Car Mods Australia Mustang.

Ben Gersekowski led the way in Class B1 driving the KCK Lubricants BMW M3 E92 as he scored an impressive sixth outright. This was just ahead of the Class B2 leading BMW 340i of Paul and Karlie Buccini, while Class A1 was led by Mark Griffith and Tom Hayman in eighth outright in the Grifcorp Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.

Jake Camilleri’s Class C Mazda 3 MPS just missed the outright top 10, while Rob O’Connor and Jesse Dixon’s Kirksworks BMW 130i continued to hold sway in Class D.

The Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships will contest two 30-minute sprint races ahead of the Sherrin Rentals Fight in the Night, with the opening event beginning at 9:45am AEST.
