GT4 Australia makes track debut at Queensland Raceway

The Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship has hit the track for the first time at Queensland Raceway.

The category, which will run parallel with the Australian Production Cars, took to the track for testing on Tuesday March 28 ahead of the first outing for the 2023 season on the support bill at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour (April 7-9).

The combined APC/GT4 field will take to Mount Panorama for practice, qualifying, as well as three 40-minute sprint races at the meeting.

The non-championship event at Bathurst will take place before the 2023 season commences for both categories at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on May 12-14.

Competitors that took to the track at Queensland Raceway included Mark Griffith (Mercedes-AMG GT4), Karl Begg (Merecedes-AMG GT4) and Steven Jukes (BMW M4 GT4).

GT4 Australia sponsor, Monochrome Chief Executive Officer Jeff Yew, was trackside for the historic moment.

Category Manager Troy Williams added: “It was a proud moment to see the Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship cars out on track at Queensland Raceway.

“GT4 has a significant global presence and we are committed to delivering our competitors a premier experience on and off the track.”

The opening round of the 2023 Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship season at the Bathurst 6 Hour will be streamed live and ad-free on Stan Sport on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.
