Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars champions will be decided at this weekend’s Bathurst International – the final event of a six-round 2024 season for the national-level production car category.

As well as the outright title, a number of class honours are still up for grabs as a 38-strong field of Meguiar’s APC competitors heads to Mount Panorama for four 30-minute races across November 8-10, with races one, three and four to be broadcast live on 7plus.

Of particular focus for those following the final stand for the season will be the #118 DA Campbell Transport BMW M2 of Dean Campbell and Super2 racer Cameron Crick, and the #27 Sherrin Rentals BMW M4 of Grant Sherrin and last year’s title winner, Iain Sherrin.

These two cars occupy the top two spots in the outright and Class X standings heading to the Mountain, with the category’s drop your worst round rule set to add extra spice to the final battle.

With how things stand currently, Grant needs to outscore Campbell and Crick by 60 points (outright) and 49 points (class X) to snatch the victory from Campbell and Crick, with Grant currently most likely to drop his Phillip Island round (scored 59 points) while Campbell and Crick will drop their no-show Queensland Raceway round, where they scored 0 points.

In class A1, Paul Buccini (#71 Buccini Transport BMW M140i) and Chris Sutton (#321 321 Motorsport Mitsubishi Evo X) are also set to have a tight battle for the top step once the drop your worst round comes into effect, while the podium placings for A2 are also up for grabs between regular Chris Lillis co-driver Nathan Callaghan and the Tyler Mecklem/Hadrian Morrall #9 PVS Ford Mustang, with Lillis in the box seat to lock down the top step in the #64 Cachet Homes Holden Camaro.

The #999 Buccini Transport BMW 135i of Karlie Buccini and Courtney Prince; the #32 Luxe Performance Commodore SSV of Brent Peters and Damien Croxon; and the #70 TOA57D Motorsport VW Polo GTI of Allan and Rob Jarvis will also be ones to watch as they look to formally tie up the B1, B2 and C class titles respectively.

While the championship picture will naturally draw a lot of attention ahead of the weekend, there will also be no shortage of fierce competition for a prestigious event win at the Bathurst International.

“The 2024 Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars season has been hard fought across our previous five rounds at Sandown, The Bend, Queensland Raceway, at Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park, and I can’t wait to see it all race to what is sure to be an epic conclusion at the legendary Mount Panorama,” said Troy Williams, General Manager of Production Cars Racing Ltd, the category managers for Meguiar’s APC.

“Not only will we have the conclusion of our championship battles, but also what is expected to be a no-holds-barred fight for Bathurst International glory.

“Everyone wants to win at The Mountain, and when you add in the fact that this will be the last Bathurst International, the ante is upped even further.

“With four 30 minute races ahead of our 38-strong grid, I have absolutely no doubt that November 8-10 at the Bathurst International is going to be provide the perfect conclusion to our 2024 season.”
