MONOCHROME GT4 AUSTRALIA CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER READY FOR PENULTIMATE ROUND

Mark Griffith is currently second in the Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship standings as the new for 2023 category gets ready to head to its penultimate round of the season at The Bend Motorsport Park this weekend.

The 2021 and 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS GT4 Cup Series Champion was the first to officially lodge his Monochrome GT4 Australia entry when the category was announced.

Since then, he has gone on to cut a consistent figure across the four rounds held so far, claiming a long list of podium finishes in the #19 Daimler Trucks Brisbane Mercedes AMG GT and with co-driver Nash Morris, has also secured two race victories.

As well as being a force on the race track, ‘Griffo’ has also been a huge supporter of the Monochrome GT4 Australia field, with the majority of the grid travelling to events in Griffith Corporation transporters.

“Monochrome GT4 Australia is a great series to be involved in, and my experience here has well and truly exceeded my expectations,” Griffith said.

“There has been some fantastic and very close racing.

“Being second in the championship is great, but it is not really a worry or a focus for me. For me it is all about the close racing and enjoying a fair contest, which the category is delivering in spades.

“Having said that, to be able to be the first to take out the title in the new category would be good of course,” the Brisbane-based businessman grinned.

Griffith may be racing solo at The Bend Motorsport Park for its four one-hour races.

“It has been a real pleasure to have Nash in our team, it helps to mix up the cars and the teams, and assists with some cool and interesting racing too. Watching him battle with the other young drivers is always entertaining,” Griffith said.

“I may be running at The Bend solo, and we haven’t decided yet as to whether I will tackle the finale at the Bathurst International in November solo or alongside Nash – it depends on his other commitments.

“As much as I love having him along, it is also a really great feeling to get on the podium with just yourself driving, so there are benefits to both approaches!”

As the category heads to the impressive Tailem Bend facility, Griffith has some clear goals.

“We will be looking to bring the car home in one piece and enjoy the weekend,” he said.

“It is a fantastic venue, with good garages, facilities and staff – so that shouldn’t be too hard hopefully!” he smiled, while thanking Daimler Trucks Brisbane, Mercedes Benz AMG Toowong, Bowden’s Own Premium Car Care, and Griffith Corporation for their support.

Round five of the 2023 Monochrome GT4 Australia Championship will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park as part of the latest Shannons Trophy Series event across October 13-15 featuring four x one-hour races alongside Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars.
