Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem have successfully defended their Sherrin Rentals Fight in the Night title in commanding fashion driving the Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang.
Finally curing the power steering problems to have afflicted the Mustang at previous rounds and even earlier in the day, the duo took the flag 1m 14s clear of the Class X leading Speedcafe.com BMW M4 F82 shared by Maika Ter Horst and Robert Gooley.
Third was the winning CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang from the earlier two races in the hands of Lindsay Kearns and Brad Carr.
Tom Hayman finished off the solid job completed by co-driver Mark Griffith in the opening stages to secure the Class A1 victory and a superb fourth outright in the Grifcorp Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, while a damaged tyre cost the Buccini father-daughter duo of Paul and Karlie a podium shot in their BMW 340i to finish fifth.
Class C was dominated by Jake Camilleri in his venerable Mazda 3 MPS as he finished clear of the Class D winning Toyota GR86 shared by Annabelle Rolfo and Emily Cacaviello.
The Class D battle heated up during the closing stages courtesy of the Rolfo/Cacaviello successfully catching, then passing the similar Toyota 86 of BPRO’s Riley Beggs and Darren Whittington with 15-minutes remaining.
Beggs/Whittington finished 10th outright to be third in Class D in the end as the BMW 130i of Rob O’Connor and Jesse Dixon also overhauled the pairing to take second.
Richard Shinkfield and Chris Holdt endured a troubled run in the race, but won Class B2 in the Axis Surveys BMW M3 E92 due in part to a power steering problem for Ben Gersekowski’s similar KCK Lubricants example.
The three-hour, 126-lap event was a race of attrition as Gersekowski was joined by numerous big names on the retirements list including Tony Quinn and Matt McCutcheon after the Game Over Chevrolet Camaro once again endured engine problems.
Trent Whyte and Glen Walker also failed to finish due to a brake malady sharing the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang.
Chris Gunther and Mitch Randall’s tough run continued when the FG Motorsport Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG lost a wheel, while Allan Jarvis lost a headlight in the championship leading Volkswagen Polo GTi before a tyre delaminated dropping him out of the Class D lead.
The Sherrin Rentals Fight in the Night concluded Round 3 of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships at Queensland Raceway, with Winton hosting the final event on the schedule on October 31-November 2.
