25 Jun Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship ready to heat up Queensland Raceway
The Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship heads up north with a quality field set to take on the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days event on June 27-29.
A cracking field featuring a wide variety of manufacturers and some exciting returning entries ensure the competition will be at a high level.
Following a stunning performance in Sydney, the Class D TOA57D Motorsport Volkswagen Polo GTi of Allan Jarvis leads the outright standings heading to Queensland Raceway.
Second is the Class C PB Motorsport Services Holden Astra HSV VXR of Oskar Butt and Troy Derwent, but both this entry in addition to the Jarvis Volkswagen will face stiffer competition in Queensland.
Expected to be a top contender is the Speedcafe-supported Class X BMW M4 to be shared by Maika Ter Horst and reigning Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge series winner Oscar Targett.
Further depth is added by the addition of the returning Mark Griffith in his Class A1 Grifcorp Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. Griffith has enlisted young gun Tom Hayman as his co-driver for the event in what will be his first production car start.
Bolstering the Mercedes-Benz challenge is the similar FG Motorsport entry for Chris Gunther and Mitch Randall, who won last time out under lights in Sydney.
Key competition will also be provided by the American muscle cars contesting Class A2.
Trent Whyte in the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang was quick at Sydney, but reliability troubles put a stop to any success. However, the team has worked hard between rounds to get the Prancing Horse sorted for Queensland where local Glen Walker will join Whyte.
Further bolstering the Mustang brigade is the highly-developed CMA Car Mods Australia example to be shared by Lindsay Kearns and Brad Carr.
Taking on the pair of Mustangs will be the recently constructed Game Over Chevrolet Camaro of Queensland Raceway circuit owner Tony Quinn and rapid New Zealander Matt McCutcheon. Last time the duo teamed up, the pair won in a GT4 endurance race last year.
The local battle between HSV and FPV will be renewed also albeit each will be in a different class. Rohit Saini will pair up with David Murphy in the Clean and Wash HSV GTS, while David Ling returns alongside Troy Williams in the FPV GT-F.
Class B1 is an all-BMW affair led by father-daughter pairing Paul and Karlie Buccini in their Tyre & More Hemmant-backed BMW M340i. Richard Shrinkfield and Ettore Vosolo will share a BMW M3 E92 backed by Axis Surveys.
Strong competition in Class C is led by Butt and Derwent, but the returning Jake Camilleri in his familiar Mazda 3 MPS will be a stiff challenger.
A newer-shaped Holden Astra OPC for Prime Motorsport’s Chris Holdt and Gerard O’Flynn completes the contenders.
Jarvis and his father Rob will face tough competition in Class D ensuring their Sydney success is far from assured.
A pair of Toyota 86s are welcome additions to the Class D battle. Angus Baillis and Emily Caccaviello will be in the Trakwell 86, while former Super Tourer racer Carlos Rolfo in the Littles Lawyers example.
Completing the field is the Class D Kirkworks BMW 130i to be shared by Rob O’Connor and Jesse Dixon.
The QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days starts with three sessions on Friday, June 27 concluding with Qualifying before a 30-minute sprint on Saturday leading into the two hour main event into the evening. A second 30-minute sprint race on Sunday concludes Round 2.
The event also marks the first leg of back-to-back trips to Queensland Raceway where a trip to Highlands Motorsport Park is on offer to winners of the most stages across the two meetings.
Round 2 of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship is held in conjunction with the third event on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series schedule at Queensland Raceway on June 27-29.
