Meguiar’s APC action continues at Sandown International Raceway

The Meguiar’s APC action at Race Sandown is coming quick and fast today with two races now complete and a third to come this afternoon. The track continued to improve as the day progressed and the sunny conditions set the stage for the second race of the weekend.

Dean Campbell (#118 DA Campbell Transport BMW M2) didn’t let the pressure get to him, taking outright and Class X wins from second-placed outright and Class X Grant Sherrin in the #27 Sherrin Rentals BMW F82 M4 who was nipping on Campbell’s heels throughout the 30-minute race. Pole-sitter Simon Hodges (#21 Secure Wealth Advisers BMW M4) was next across the line in third outright and Class X.

Rounding out the top five were Iain Sherrin (#72 Sherrin Rentals BMW F82 M4 – 4th outright and 4th for X), and Chris Lillis (#64 Cachet Homes Chevrolet Camaro SS – 5th outright and 1st for A2)

Next across the line in sixth through tenth were Matthew Holt (#65 Cavanagh Electrics HSV Clubsport – 6th outright and 2nd for A2), Ben Gersekowski (#38 KCK Lubricants / Vics Timber BMW M3 – 7th outright and 1st for B2), Paul Buccini (#71 Team Buccini Racing BMW M140i – 8th outright and 1st for A1), Chris Sutton (#321 321 Motorsport Mitsubishi Evo X – 9th outright 2nd for A1), and Rob Jarvis (#70 TOA57D Motorsport VW Polo GTi – 1st for C).

Campbell couldn’t have asked for a better start to the race, immediately usurping pole-sitter Simon Hodges, shuffling him back to fourth place. Both Grant (#27) and Iain (#72) Sherrin also got ripper starts, taking the field four wide, before settling into a rhythm in outright second and third place for the majority of the race. Hodges made a number of dives on the back of the #72 Sherrin Rentals BMW M4, before taking advantage of lapped traffic to make a successful move on the defending APC champion moving him back to fourth outright where he would ultimately finish.

In the mid-pack, Gersekowski and Holt were locked into a fierce battle for outright 6th and 7th place, until an unforced error saw Gersekowski lock a wheel, allowing Holt to sneak past.
